431: cinture sicurezza anteriori
466: chiusura centralizzata
524: protezione vernice
541: luci alogene
586: condizionatore e vetri elettrici anteriori e posteriori
598: vetri atermici
620: versione per Italia
630: pneumatici radiali
665: Imballaggio VE I
The W108 series from Mercedes Benz represented a further consolidation of the reliability and elegance developed with the W111 series. Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1965, the W108 was characterised by understated styling and six-cylinder engines with both carburettor and injection. Introduced in 1970, the version with the new 200-horsepower M116 V8 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission was the 108 series' spearhead in terms of comfort and performance.
Delivered new by the official Mercedes dealer in Como, S.C.A. on 13 July 1972, this 280 SE 3.5 was one of the last built by Mercedes. The first owner was the company 'La Meccanotessile' of Como, which kept it for many years, even when it moved to Bergamo in the 1980s or so. The car was then bought by an enthusiast in Pavia, who resold it to a collector from Campania. He used the car regularly and kept this Mercedes in perfect mechanical condition. The car has been in the same collection for about five years, where it has been regularly used by the current owner, a great Mercedes enthusiast. The car boasts numerous optional extras:
420: automatic transmission on the bridge
431: front safety belts
466: central locking
524: paint protection
541: halogen lights
586: air conditioning and electric windows front and rear
598: athermic windows
620: version for Italy
630: radial tyres
665: VE I packaging
The car retains its original colour scheme of 735 metallic astral silver with a brown 923 velour interior, which is perfectly preserved and has never been altered. Never restored and only lightly varnished, it is without doubt one of the most original and best-preserved 280 SE 3.5s on the market today. Usable and incredibly eye-catching, it perfectly combines classicism and usability in a great collector's car.
