Scarce first edition, richly illustrated with fruit trees and shrubs and containing many recent botanical discoveries from the New World including cacti, palms, spices and prized perfumes. Johnston, a Polish scholar and physician of Scottish origin, studied and attended the universities of St. Andrews, Cambridge, Leiden and Frankfurt.
