AN IMPORTANT AND LARGE FINELY PAINTED FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN GAN-LU-SI VASE, CHINA, CHINA, MID 19TH CENTURY
The vase brightly enamelled in the colours of Famille Rose, with the vessel of baluster ovoid form resting on a short spreading foot surmounted by a high waisted neck with a flared mouth rim, flanked by a pair of Famille Rose openwork archaistic dragons handles. The body is decorated with four reserved mirror scenes: the larger present a young Noble lady encircle by her maidens sitting around a table with some other standing together with two high officer, the other reserve showing an important old Noble lady seated at a ceremonial table and she is flanked by two Noble man and surrounded by maidens and high military officers, all is taking place inside the Buddhist Temple Gan-Lu-Si (a Buddhist temple situated in the province of the ZhenJian), written on gold on a blue background on the top, the other two small reserve are depicted each with two Buddhist Immortal, all surrounded by spread of flowers and butterfly, above the foot rim a band of spreading flowers with swallows, and on top the flared mouth rim is decorated with a band of stylized confronting blue Chilongs enclosed by rose bats on a yellow ground and a gilded rim. The vase with few wears on the surface but has some details that have been re-painted in old times as there are old repairs that can be seen under the black light.
