The arch-rival of the Piaggio Vespa, the Innocenti Lambretta was undoubtedly one of the scooters that marked the history of Italy after the war. Built in the Lambrate factory in Milan, it differed from its direct competitor because of the chassis made of a single tube on which the mechanical components and the saddle were housed instead of the load-bearing and fairing body.
Introduced in 1947, the first Lambretta, the "A", was characterised by the 7-inch wheels and the lack of rear suspension. In 1948, the "B" version was introduced, which remained in production until 1950. It was characterised by the rear suspension, the gear selector on the handlebars and the 8-inch wheels. The subsequent C version was characterised by a new chassis with a larger central tube. In 1951, the D version arrived, which was also offered in the fairing version called LD. In October 1954, it was equipped with an oversized 150cc engine. The Lambretta D was produced until 1956, after a total of about 54,000 units built.
This 1952 model has remained in the same property since its purchase and was impeccably restored in the past years. Certainly one of the most loved scooters by Italians at the time and sought after by today's collectors, the Lambretta is a true icon of a world of which only a distant memory remains today.
