AN UNUSUAL FINE PAIR OF LARGE DOUCAI JARDINIERES, CHINA, QING DYNASTY, YONGZHENG (1723-1735) QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The jardinières heavily potted each with the tall flared sides rising from a step before the splayed foot to the tilted mouth rim, the exterior is colorfully decorated in rich tones and decorated with circle double underglaze blue rings which contain various continuous bands of scroll. The upward lingzhi heads on the flared mouth rim and downward in the splayed foot, and two different lapped bands that encase the central decoration of a large scroll with lotus flowers and stylized foliage against an alternate yellow and turquoise ground, each have a short foot with a recessed flat base, the base pierced with a wide drainage hole.
