A SINGLE A ZILEH PANEL, KARABAGH AREA, CAUCASUS, LATE 19TH CENTURY; SOME SMALL OLD RESTORATIONS.

Questo inusuale pannello Zileh è realizzato in un unico pezzo, normalmente sono due fasce che poi venivano cucite al centro formando un grosso pannello a draghi. La tecnica è ad ago comune a tutti i Sumakh e riproduce l'arcaico motivo del dragone stilizzato a forma di S. Nel disegno del dragone si riconoscono sulla testa due piccole sporgenze (occhi con lunghe ciglia) d nella parte terminale una lunga coda. I draghi contenuti nelle sinuose rientranze sono tipici disegni geometrici dei Zileh. Il disegno è coraggioso e conferisce al manufatto una apparenza selvaggia e tribale.
Tutta la composizione grafica è realizzata con più colori, la bordura riproduce il classico Medacil, il caratteristico motivo a S. Il più famoso Zileh è attualmente esposto al Metropolitan Art Museum di New York.
