Exemplary of the fourth series. Coming from an important collection in Turin. Aprilia's younger sister. Fully preserved.
Presented in the autumn of 1939, the Lancia Ardea was born in a very difficult historical context: the winds of war and the sanctions imposed by the League of Nations on Italy certainly did not favour the automobile market. Conceived by Vincenzo Lancia before his death in 1937, the Ardea was to all intents and purposes a small-scale copy of the largest and most acclaimed Aprilia, of which it took up the style and volumes. In particular, the Ardea was equipped with a new V4 engine with a new distribution system with overhead valves all controlled by a single camshaft. The tilted valves allowed for hemispherical burst chambers that helped to improve volumetric efficiency and therefore to have greater power. The Ardea was produced in four series until 1952 until it was replaced by the Appia. The true progenitor of the Lancia entry level sedans, the Ardea is undoubtedly one of the most prominent models in Lancia's production.
Equipped with its first registration certificate and its Turin plate, this Lancia Ardea is a fourth series and has never been restored. For years in the same collection,it is an excellent opportunity to acquire one of the most important Lancia models in the history of the Turin-based company.
