In the British sports car scene of the 50s and 60s, the famous "Big Healeys" were among the most coveted models in the post-war years. Derived from the popular 100/6 series, the 3000 series was introduced in 1959 and was popular with the public because of its great power and its absolute beauty. Powered by the robust 3-litre, six-cylinder "C-Series" like the previous 100/6 but equipped with Girling disc brakes, the 3000 earned a reputation as a charismatic car, exciting to drive. Able to reach a top speed of 183 km/h and shoot from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds, they became one of the best performing cars of their time. Called "hairy-chested-Healeys" because of their masculine temperament and challenging driving, they quickly became the cars to beat in rallies in the early 1960s, especially when driven by real masters such as Paddy Hopkirk and Pat Moss.
This 1961 BT7 Mk1 is offered here in the classic two-tone Black and Prime Rose Yellow. Imported to Italy about 30 years ago from England, provided with ASI license plate, it has been used regularly in rallies and for pleasure trips. Restored and in excellent condition, this 3000 Mk1 will give its new owner the thrill of pure driving.
