First edition of the celebratory biography of the Genoese condottiere Andrea Doria. The copy is enriched by a curious contemporary handwritten sonnet to the rear endpaper: '"Il gran prencipe Doria, alpio, soprano, de Carlo Quinto reggio conduttiero..."'.

Portraits of Charles V and Doria within rich allegorical borders in the text, printer's device to title-page and colophon, engraved initials and head-pieces (slightly browned, some sporadic spotting).
