A PARTLY PAINTED AND GILT WOOD FIGURE OF GUANYIN, MING DYNASTY, (1368-1644)
The standing figure is carved on a lotus base, wearing long robes draped over one shoulder with a long scarf which falls around the neck and down the arms and with elaborate headdress and jewellery. Her face with gentle smile and her hair piled into an elaborate high chignon. Condition of the figure with a hand re-stuck, some split on the wood with some pigments remaining and trace of lacquer and gilt, wears on the lacquer and surface.
