A RARE AND LARGE DAOIST PAINTING ON SILK, CHINA, MING DYNASTY, MIDDLE TO LATE MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The large painting is on silk sticked on paper and applied on a panel. The Daoist immortal, is depicted wearing long red robes that are delicately embellished with gold dragons. He is seated on an elaborate lotus petals canopied openwork throne with amongst swirling clouds and flames in the background and holds in his folded hands a spinach jade hu tablet, and has an elaborate headdress hung with tasselled jewels and highlighted in gilt. The surface with wears and losses, folds and visible stains and cut, as visible from the images.
