PREVIEW/ Gioielli & Orologi / Monte Carlo 29 July 2019
by Benedetta Romanini and Teresa Scarlata
Colour is the unifying thread that joins the jewels that will be presented in the auction of Jewels & Watches in Monte Carlo in July. Bright colours that reflect the light of summer, gems that convey the joy and carefree spirit of a season of intimate spiritual peace. The catalogue presents a selected anthology of lots that represent the finest Italian and international haute joaillerie. Three Italian-made rings in white gold with natural deep blue sapphires weighting 7.50, 10.50 and 11.16 carats, surrounded by paved diamonds or fancy-cut diamonds, with internationally recognised Swiss gemological certificates. It should be noted that the gemstones are clean, the colour is perfect and it reminds of pastel blue and Royal blue. A spectacular white gold and diamond ring with a rare 3.21-carat pigeon-blooded ruby as well as an aristocratically pure 4.74-carat drop-cut diamond (D/vvs1).
A jewel is a pleasure perpetuated in time without the shadows of memory. A bond that goes beyond feelings. As the beautiful Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor (1917 – 2016) said: “I have never hated a man enough to give him his diamonds back”.
