Alla nuova serie 2000, composta da berlina e spider, manca la versione coupé, il corpo vettura che meglio si adatta ad un'Alfa Romeo. Così nel 1960 si decide di produrre un nuovo autotelaio Sprint con passo di 2580 mm, intermedio rispetto a quello di berlina e spider, equipaggiato con lo stesso motore da 115 CV della spider. La prima auto proposta su questo telaio è la 2000 Sprint Praho, una lussuosa coupé realizzata dalla Carrozzeria Touring nel 1960. La Praho rimase un prototipo anche perché contemporaneamente venne presentata la 2000 Sprint, disegnata da Giorgetto Giugiaro per la carrozzeria Bertone sullo stesso autotelaio.
Questo modello venne giudicato molto positivamente dalla dirigenza Alfa Romeo e immediatamente messo in produzione grazie soprattutto al design del frontale, caratterizzato, per la prima volta, da un'unica apertura coperta da una griglia; anche i fanali, doppi e di diametro diverso, sono inseriti all'interno della griglia stessa anziché essere montati sulla carrozzeria. La fiancata ha un andamento simile a quello della Giulietta Sprint, Il posteriore è tronco e privo di pinne, con lo specchio di coda incassato entro cui si trovano i fanalini e il portatarga. La serie 2000 venne prodotta tra il 1957 e 1962 quando venne sostituita dalla più prestante serie 2600. Gli esemplari di 2000 Sprint Coupé Bertone, sono solo 704, rari perché prodotti in un lasso di tempo più breve.
Questa 2000 Sprint del 1961 radiata d'ufficio nel 1988 (con visura), uno dei pochissimi esemplari rimasti targhe nere, si presenta in ottimo stato di conservazione generale e ha già subito alcuni interventi (sostituzione del parabrezza e terminale di scarico con pezzi originali). La carrozzeria ha visto interventi su fondi e lamierati e la verniciatura è stata rifatta nel Blu Olandese (343) tipico Alfa Romeo. Il motore (di primo impianto, "matching numbers") è perfettamente funzionante, sono stati eseguiti interventi per oltre 4000 euro al fine del ripristino di tutte le parti meccaniche ammalorate. Gli interni sono stati rifatti e sono presenti (smontati) i pannelli laterali porte, per una spesa di circa 2500 euro presso tappezziere viale Certosa Milano. Il cruscotto è completo ed è dotata ancora delle chiavi originali. Monta gomme nuove, mancano solo guarnizioni e moquette. Un'ottima occasione per completare con poco impegno un esemplare raro della storia delle coupé della casa del Biscione!
The new 2000 series, consisting of saloon and spider, lacked a coupé version, the body that best suited an Alfa Romeo. So in 1960 it was decided to produce a new Sprint chassis with a 2580 mm wheelbase, intermediate to that of the saloon and spider, equipped with the same 115 bhp engine as the spider. The first car offered on this chassis was the 2000 Sprint Praho, a luxurious coupé built by Carrozzeria Touring in 1960. The Praho remained a prototype also because at the same time the 2000 Sprint, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Carrozzeria Bertone on the same chassis, was presented.
This model was judged very favourably by the Alfa Romeo management and immediately put into production thanks above all to the design of the front end, which featured, for the first time, a single opening covered by a grille; the headlights, which were double and of a different diameter, were also inserted inside the grille itself rather than being mounted on the bodywork. The side is similar to that of the Giulietta Sprint, the rear end is truncated and without fins, with a recessed tail mirror within which are the lights and number plate holder. The 2000 series was produced between 1957 and 1962 when it was replaced by the more powerful 2600 series. There were only 704 examples of the 2000 Sprint Coupé Bertone, rare because they were produced over a shorter period of time.
This 1961 2000 Sprint, officially struck off the register in 1988 (with official registration certificate), one of the very few remaining examples with black plates, is in excellent condition and has already undergone some work (replacement of the windscreen and exhaust with original parts). The bodywork has had work done on the underbody and sheet metal, and the paintwork has been redone in the typical Alfa Romeo Dutch Blue (343). The engine (original equipment, 'matching numbers') is in perfect working order, over 4000 euros worth of work has been carried out to restore all the damaged mechanical parts. The interior has been redone and the door side panels are present (removed), at a cost of around 2500 euros at upholsterer Viale Certosa Milan. The dashboard is complete and still has the original keys. It has new tyres, only seals and carpet are missing. An excellent opportunity to complete a rare example of Biscione's coupé history with little effort!
