Most complete copy ever to appear at auction (RBH) of this first edition of collection of lithographic plates illustrating the mountainous landscape of the Pyrenees in all its facets, as well as scenes from the life of the citizens of Bagn?res-de-Luchon and folding views of the surrounding mountains.2 parts in one volume, oblong folio, (292 x 405 mm). 79 lithographic plates, including two topographical maps of the Pyrenees and the town of Bagn?res-de-Luchon, some with fine contemporary colouring, many folding, protected by paper; first gilt chromolithographic title-page preceding second lithographic title-page (copies differ in the number of plates, this is the most complete on the market to date, scattered spotting, some light wear). Contemporary half-leather binding with gilt title on front boards and spine, gilt edges (light wear). Provenance: private library markings to endpapers.
