ROSACCIO, Giuseppe (1530-1620). Le stelle Fisse, calendar for the year 1704. Lucca: Marescandoli, 1704.
'Saturn in the house of Mars rules this leap year of 1704. This planet is cold and damp, sometimes giving good fortune, and sometimes taking it away'. So begins this astrological calendar which likely draws its information from almanacs by the prolific writer and intellectual Rosaccio, or simply exploits his image so much that 'Il Rosaccio', guesser of the weather and gazetteer of the stars, continued to appear in the headings of almanacks and pamphlets and broadsides throughout the eighteenth century in various cities such as Modena, Reggio Emilia, Bologna, and Florence.Printed sheet, (520 x 370mm). Within frame (some light wear). (1)
