Trade catalogue never sold at auction (RBH) of the famous firm of greenhouse and garden seeds and trees founded by Martin Burdin (1740-1820), a pupil of the abbot Jean Baptiste Rozier (1734-1793) who, after travelling the continent to study agronomy, opened an agricultural establishment in Chambèry in 1765, distinguishing himself immediately for the accuracy of the technical information in his catalogues. By the time his sons took over in 1820, the firm had more than a million plants cultivated in Nèzin and a dense network of correspondents in the South of France and Northern Italy who made use of catalogues such as the one here.8vo, (196 x 124mm). 98 pp., French-Italian facing text with a list of seeds for sale, a presentation of the company, and payment and shipping methods.
