Particularly interesting are the sections devoted to the religiosity of the Native Americans and of the Far East, but also to the more particular sects of the Christian religion such as the Adamites or to paranormal phenomena such as St. Medard's convulsions (represented as an addition to volume 4 and often missing). an immense effort to record the religious rites and beliefs of the world in all their diversity as objectively and authentically as possible. Contemporary red morocco binding with gilt titles and decorations on spine, marbled endpapers (light wear).
