FINE AND LARGE POLYCHROME PAINTING ON SILK OF A DEITY, CHINA, MIDDLE MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The painting is decorated in ink and colour on silk, depicting a Deity who is portrayed with his celestial crown and dressed in formal clothes seated on a stone bush, surrounded by two guardians holding a standard and a sword on the top, and in the front by two celestial attendant officers, all observing on the ground a turtle entwined in combat with a snake between rocks and shrubs. The surface with wears and losses, folds and stains, as visible from the images.
