Pininfarina has always been the body shop with the monopoly on the design and engineering of most of the Ferrari production bodies. However, in the 1970s, Bertone was awarded the contract for the production of the new 308 GT4, an aggressive but elegant 2+2 which was produced from 1973 to 1980. The futuristic wedge-shaped lines were reminiscent of the contemporary Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini Urraco and made the new 3-litre 4-seater from Maranello an excellent alternative for those customers who, in addition to sportsmanship, favoured comfort and greater habitability of the passenger compartment. The new 255 hp 90° V8 engine, located in a transverse rear position, was designed by Ing. Bellei, who already designed the engine for the 158, which won the 1964 Formula 1 drivers' and manufacturers' world championship. Given the sobriety of this Ferrari and the presence of Dino¿s logos, until 1976 it wasn¿t very successful: in total, 2826 examples were set up in 7 years of production. The 14068 chassis is one of the 19 GT4s ordered in the original metallic light blue colour.
Delivered to its first owner through the Samocar in Bologna, this Ferrari has had only 3 owners, including the current one. In 2016, it was bought by the current owner, after being rediscovered in an underground garage, covered with used furniture and other objects. It was immediately restored and brought back to its original condition, with the engine completely overhauled by the Motor Service workshop in Modena, while the interior was redone by the prestigious Tappezzeria Luppi, specialized in Ferrari interiors. Having completed only the necessary testing after the end of the works, this rare and interesting 308 GT4 is one of the most original and particular Ferraris available on the market today.
