A NICE WOOD AND FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN BA XIAN PLAQUES, CHINA, LATE QING DYNASTY
the Eight Immortals, Ba Xian, are depicted two by two in the bright Famille Rose enamels. In the first plaque Lu Dongbin, wearing a fluent blue robe is identified by his magic sword strapped on his back together with Zhang Guolao depicted with his white barbs and his bamboo with two folded sticks music instrument, under a pine tree. In the second one Zhongli Quan the most important between the eight Immortals with his attribute the fan which is used to revive the dead, an orange dress, together with Han Xiangzi who embodies youth and is depicted playing the flute. In the third the beautiful He Xiangu with her open lotus flower in her hand and in front of her Li Tieguai who looks like a lame beggar in rags and holding a pilgrim's flask containing its medicinal and magical, in the other, an iron rod on which it rests. In the last one, Cao Guojiu and Lan Caihe, the first with the mandarin typical hat holding castanets in his hand and a double belt typical of people attending the Imperial Court and the second one Lan Caihe is represented with a blue dress, with a basket of flowers on the arm; in perfect condition
