A VERY LARGE ARCHAISTIC BRONZE TRIPOD VESSEL, CHINA, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644), ON WOOD BASE
The large round body rising to a waisted neck and a tall flaring rim, supported on three crisp blade-shaped legs, the body intricately decorated with two main band with an archaistic design and flanked by a loop handle by the side, the mouth-rim surmounted by a pair of posts capped by mushroom tops with sunken whorl patterns, the wood base pose on three short foot, finely carved with a band of stylized animal masks. Considering the age and the large size of the vessel, it is in quite good conditions, with corrosion in some areas of the vessel and with a V-shaped section of the rim surmounted by the post capped mushroom tops it has been off and soldered to the body, difficult to understand if the piece it has been replaced in some place or it has just lost the patina of the ages, the base stand in good conditions, with only minor scratches and small chips and nicks on the edges and extremities.
