A LARGE BALUSTER IMARI VASE AND COVER, JAPAN, EDO DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
Of baluster form and fluted body, rising with slightly flaring straight sides and high broad rounded shoulders, is decorated with four main panels-reserve and all over painted with a continuous motif of scrolling and panels flowers motif, the tall cover with the knob molded of a mythical animal. In very good conditions, very minor surface wear, just a little more pronounced in the gilding and close to the foot ring on the iron red enamel, very minor firing imperfections.
