Cartier's iconic rectangular wristwatch, the Tank, was born in 1917 and is said to be inspired by the rigid lines of tanks. the Tank Américaine is an entirely more recent model. While its curvaceous case and dial stamped with elongated Roman numerals make it look like a product of the 1920s, in fact any history of the Tank Américaine wouldn't be complete without at least a passing mention of the watch that inspired it: the Tank Cintrée, a rectangular and thin watch with many characteristics in common which was introduced in 1921. The Tank Américaine instead was introduced in the late 80s and launched in the early 90s, in white or yellow gold, and some versions in Platinum. The present model in white gold, already the most sought-after variant at the time, is in working condition and with the Cartier inspection seal from 2012 and a new strap.
