30 finely watercoloured plates from the famous collection of La Scala stage designs designed by Alessandro Sanquirico, head scenographer, and engraved plates by Lose, Biasioli, Castellini, Durelli, Giani Raineri and Zucchi. The illustrated operas include Mozart's La clemenza di Tito (1819), Rossini's La gazza ladra (premiered 1817), Ciro in Babilonia (1812) and Semiramide (1824), and Meyerbeer's Il crociato in Egitto (1826)
Oblong folio, (400 x 460mm indicative). 30 loose aquatints with contemporary watercolouring and a title-page, printed on "Whatmann Turkey Mill" paper (in very good condition, two plates with minimally repaired marginal tears). Please contact the department for a list of plates present
