Modern and Contemporary Art

The two auctions held in Milan by the department of Modern and Contemporary Art obtained excellent results: a total of 1,953,531 euros, and a percentage of sales per lot of 51.6% and in terms of value of 172.5%. The most interesting results include two works by Alighiero Boetti: Sciogliersi come neve al sole, a delicate and small white embroidery on fabric from 1988, sold at 137,500 euros, and Una parola al vento… a large vertical colour embroidery from around 1989, sold at 118,750 euros. An interesting work by Carol Rama from 1978 (Untitled), made of leather and an inner tube on a soft top canvas, was sold for 56,350 euros, while Vaso di fiori, a flower vase by Antonio Donghi from 1936 reached 56,250 euros. A mixed technique on paper by Franz Kline from 1960-61 (Untitled), sold at 50,000 euros is also worth mentioning. An oil on canvas by Renato Birolli from 1956, Alla ricerca, presented at the XXX Venice Biennale in 1960 and sold at 43,850 euros.
