Monte Carlo timeless joy

Monte Carlo and jewels are intimately linked to “To Catch a Thief”, cult movie by Alfred Hitchcock of 1955. In the film, Cary Grant plays with inimitable elegance the thief John Robie, called “the Cat”. John must unmask an imitator of his modus operandi in front of the police, London’s Lloyd’s and especially Frances Stevens, the daughter of a wealthy American, owner of the most striking collection of the Riviera, embodied by the grace and by the timeless beauty of Grace Kelly.
In the first auction of important Jewels that will take place in Monaco at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, in addition to a selection of the top names of fine jewellery such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, two objects will be proposed that may have been part of the billionaire collection of the famous Hollywood film: a gold parure with rubies, sapphires and diamonds and a gold bracelet signed Mario Buccellati. Among the watches, two Rolex wristwatches: the first one is a Daytona model, ref. 6239 from the late 1960s while the second one is an Oyster Chronographe, ref. 6034 of the early 1950s.
