CONTEMPORANEI per sempre

Biennale Venezia

Since 1895, Venice Biennale has been the meeting point for contemporary art, which has been confronted with the impulses and anxieties of the 20th century – which saw the enormous devastation of two world wars, but also an economic well-being and an unprecedented increase in life expectancy – and a contemporaneity that contaminates expressive languages with curious cultural nomadism. For 124 years, the artists hosted on the lagoon have been giving shape, signs and colours of a contemporaneity that flows through time to become history.

From 11 May to 26 November, the 58th International Art Exhibition curated by Ralph Rugoff and entitled “May You Live in Interesting Time” will take place.
The exhibition will be accompanied by 90 national participations in the historic pavilions at the Giardini, at the Arsenale and in the historic centre of Venice. Five countries will be present for the first time at the Biennale Arte: Algeria, Ghana, Madagascar, Malaysia and Pakistan. The Italian Pavilion at the Tese delle Vergini in the Arsenale, supported and promoted by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, Directorate General for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Suburbs, will be curated by Milovan Ferronato
