Alla ricerca di una preziosa ossessione

The auction of Jewellery and Watches on May 30th will be offering collectors a broad and exhaustive selection of top Italian and international jewellery along with a selection of prestigious time-pieces. The considerable traditions of excellence associated with Bulgari will be represented by a “Trombino” ring in platinum, sapphires and diamonds from around 1960 in which the upper part is set with an unheated Burmese “sugar-loaf” sapphire of approximately ten carats, mounted on baguette-cut diamonds. Also datable to the 1960’s is a semi-articulated Cusi bracelet in rubies and diamonds with three strings of brilliant diamonds alternating with flowers in cut drop-style rubies with a diamond in the centre. By the same Milanese jeweller, Cusi, there will also be a brooch in gold, platinum, rubies and diamonds, designed with a floral motif in brilliant and baguette-cut diamonds with flowers in ruby drops. The maison Cartier is well-represented in the auction with a panthère brooch in platinum, onyx, emeralds and diamonds. It is modelled on a walking panther with a body entirely covered in diamonds with onyx inserts and its eyes represented by two emerald drops.
Making a leap back to the end of the Nineteenth century, the auction house will be offering an enchanting gold and silver pendant, natural blister pearls of 19 carats, emeralds and diamonds realised in spiral decorations of old-cut diamonds with a rectangular emerald at the centre and a natural blister drop pearl. From the 1920’s, a long sautoir in gold, silver, small pearls and tourmaline by Buccellati entirely realised with a series of pearls alternating with circles in silver and gold with roses of diamonds and at the centre a cut-drop tourmaline with in a setting of gold, silver and diamond roses with a spiral motif. Lastly, the top sector of watches will be represented by an elegant wrist-watch in steel, a Rolex Oyster Cosmograph Daytona, reference 6263, from the mid-1970’s.
