Monumental edition of Ariosto's works, accompanied by an impressive critical apparatus and enriched by 51 large engraved plates, as well as a portrait of the author. The first volume includes the first forty-six cantos of the famous Orlando Furioso, while the last five cantos, which complete the subject matter of the poem, are printed in the second volume, together with the author's other works: seven comedies (two in prose and five in verse), a letter to Bembo, the Rime, the Erbolato, satires and poems in Latin. A work of exceptional value both for its iconographic richness and critical depth, offering a complete overview of Ariosto's production.

Engraved portrait of Ariosto, 46 large full-page engraved illustrations numbered 1-46 in the first volume opening the cantos, and 5 numbered 1-5 in the second, title page of the second volume within an allegorical frame as well as the half-title of the 'Commedie', engraved initials and headpieces (small woodworm path in the upper outer margin between the first and third cantos without affecting text, otherwise an excellent copy). Contemporary vellum binding with title to spine, speckled edges. (2)
