ZACCAGNI, Giovanni Camillo (1592-1649). I biasmi delle donne. Genoa: Pavoni, 1630.
A scarce poem (only two copies registered in OPAC) dedicated to Marquis Antonio Giulio Brignole of a misogynistic nature centred on the English royal court and the affairs of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, a favourite target of the Roman Catholic milieu. Zaccagni, a mannerist scholar, soon fell into disgrace at the papal court, was arrested, tried, found guilty of various crimes and sentenced to hang in 1649.
4to, (195 x 140 mm). Engraved initials and headpieces (trimmed, with loss of a few letters of the comments in the margins of the composition). Modern marbled paper. (1)
