ARETINO (1492-1556). La prima [seconda] parte de Ragionamenti [WITH:] Commento...sopra la prima Ficata del Padre Siceo. Con la Diceria de Nasi. Bengodi, 21 October 1524: [Amsterdam: Jansson(?) 1650]
Edition probably printed in Amsterdam in the 17th century of the dialogue between the Roman courtesans Nanna and Antonia concerning the education of the young Pippa. The two discuss the female roles of nun, wife and prostitute, concluding that prostitution offers the greatest freedom and honesty. The work was originally printed in Venice in 1534-36, suppressed and then circulated clandestinely through London editions, the most famous being that of John Wolf, published around 1580 and continental reprints including this one which Caswell attributes to Jansson (Caswell, 16), whose fictitious printing location 'Bengodi' derives from the utopian city in which part of the Decameron is set.
