This edition of the letters of the famous comedian Isabella Andreini contains sonnets, madrigals and songs in which she explores amorous, moral and spiritual themes, often using a strong, self-confident female voice. With her refined style and literary skill, Isabella established herself as one of the few women poets valued in the literary milieu of her time, defying the canons and restrictions placed on female authors.
