ALBERTI, Leon Battista (1404-1472). Hecatomphila...nella quale insegna la ingegnosa arte d'amare. Venice: Zoppino, 1528.
Highly interesting volume collecting three fundamental works on love and the querelle des femmes. Includes the scarce first Italian translation of Leon Battista Alberti's treatise on love, followed by the editio princeps of Michele Biondo's misogynistic dialogue between Socrates and Nipho, and concludes with the Italian translation of Agrippa's work in favor of women. A rich set of contrasts and perspectives that illuminates the lively discussion of the role and value of women in the sixteenth century.
