Copy donated by the author to the author of the plates, Basilio Lasinio, complete with handwritten sending letter applied to the endpapers and autograph dedication to the title page. The author, a noble Brescian politician close to Pietro Verri and Cesare Beccaria, was known as a skilled horseman and farmer. A fascinating testimony of the collaboration between authors and illustrators in the cultural milieu of Napoleonic Milan.
Folio, (298 x 215mm). Engraved frontispiece depicting the author on horseback, followed by 6 double-page plates mounted on brachettes at the end of the volume, all designed by Basilio Lasinio (1766-1839) and engraved in copper by Bordiga, with wide margins. Contemporary leather binding, decorated with a Greek frame on the boards, gilt decorated vignettes on the spine, gilt edges and marbled endpapers (some light wear). Provenance: ex dono auctoris copy, with handwritten dedication to the title page and handwritten cover letter applied to the endpapers. Copy donated to the designer of the plates, Basilio Lasinio, who added his own handwritten ex libris to the title page. (1)
