First Italian edition, edited by Damiano Maraffi, and first illustrated edition of these classic works on the art of divination illustrating miracles, monstrous creatures and prodigious phenomena. In addition to the works by Claudianus and Polydorus, there is 'Norica, o vero de gli ostenti' by Joachim Camerarius (1500-1574). The more than 40 illustrations are by Bernard Salomon from Lyon, known as 'Petit Bernard'.
