Fine copy of this second edition of the guide to Tuscany, a vast repertory of images and views of the region. Abbot Fontani (1748-1818), an erudite man of wide culture with interests ranging from philology to archaeology and the fine arts, was librarian and antiquarian to the Riccardi family, as well as author of numerous other works. The views were drawn and engraved by the Terreni brothers, with the contribution of the most skilled Tuscan chalcographers of the time

Portrait of the author on the frontispiece engraved by Fournier, 213 engraved plates partly folded, with among others 1 map of Tuscany several times folded and views of the cities of Florence, Siena, Pisa and Livorno (there are 2 more plates than the index of plates in the first volume) protected by tissue guards, uncut. Contemporary half-leather binding with gilt title on label to spine (minor defects). (6)
