An elegant work giving an account of the habits of 81 varieties of parrots with particular reference to their behaviour in captivity. The chromoxylographic plates are by Benjamin Fawcett (1808-1893) from drawings by Alexander Francis Lydon (1836-1917).
3 vols, 8vo large, (250 x 165mm). 81 woodcut plates printed in coloured and finished by hand, some gum arabic highlights, good internal condition. Contemporary green cloth editorial binding with gilt title to spines and gilt parrot to front boards (minor wear). Provenance: Pier Paolo Vaccarino. (3)
