Fine copy of this second Paris edition of Valerius Flaccus' 'Argonautics', dedicated to the exploits of Jason. Originally published and annotated by Gilles de Maizières (Egidius Maseriensis) in 1517, this 1519 edition presents a revised and corrected text. The work benefited from the contributions of eminent humanists and philologists, including Salmonius Macrinus, Jacobus Maserius and Philippus Pulchrus. The edition is embellished with woodcuts and is a remarkable example of the refined Parisian book production of the period.
