Scarce first edition of this important commentary on the Poetics of Aristotle and Horace, dedicated to Cosimo I, which proposes a hedonistic conception of poetry (p. 2: 'Poetice, siquis diligenter attendat, omnem suam vim confert ad oblectandum, etsi prodest quoque'), in contrast to the moralistic view prevailing in the Counter-Reformation era.
