Fine copy in contemporary binding of the first Latin translation by Cosimo Pazzi (1466-1513) of the 41 lectures by the Neo-Platonic philosopher Maximus of Tyre on philosophical and religious topics, including: 'Whether Socrates was right not to defend himself' and 'Whether the life of Diogenes the Cynic should be preferred'.
Folio, (275 x 205mm). Title framed in a beautiful ornamental woodcut frame, engraved printer's device in the colophon (small, non-invasive woodworm holes in the first and last leaves, sometimes affecting a few letters, otherwise a fine copy). Contemporary blindstamped leather binding (some wear and minor chipping). Provenance: Old notations and underlining in the margins; Ex Libris 'Francisci Cucchiari' dated 1907. (1)
