An incunabula edition of the Sermons of Pope Leo the Great, printed seven times in the decades before 1500, confirming the importance of this work in the dissemination of Christian thought. Leo I, a central figure of his time and promoter of the Council of Chalcedon, was also sent by Emperor Valentinian III to negotiate peace with Attila, King of the Huns.
