Fine copy annotated and in fine contemporary binding of this edition edited by the humanist Giovanni Giocondo following the layout of Jenson's princeps of 1472 and dedicated to Pope Leo X of the collection of agrarian works by Cato (234-149 BC), Varro (116-27 BC), Columella (4-70 AD) and Palladius (4th century AD).
4to, (210 x 133mm). Aldine device to title page, aa leaves and colophon, some illustrations and diagrams in text, good condition. Contemporary pigskin binding, inscribed 'Colum scritto III' to edges (some light wear). Provenance: numerous contemporary and later annotations throughout ; 'Ph Fladamar(?) D 1797 ex bibliotheca Geismaniani comparavit'. (1)
