RUFUS, Quintus Curtius (1st century AD). Quintus Curtius. Venice: Aldo Manuzio heirs; Andrea Torresano, 1520.
First and only Aldine edition, in the first state with the addition of the 'R' superimposed on the erroneous 'Cutius' on the title page, dedicated by Francesco Asolano to Maffeo Leoni. The last two folios contain a combination of errata and readings provided by the late arrival in the hands of Gian Francesco Torresano of a manuscript by Cipriano Senile of Ancona.
8vo, (165 x 100 mm). Aldine device to title page and colophon (frontispiece and colophon anciently reinforced, some marginal notes anciently covered by paper or with attempted removal, a few leaves browned). 18th century leather binding with gilt title and decoration to spine, speckled edges. Provenance: some old notes and underlining, some with 18th century erasures. (1)
