LEOPARDI, Giacomo (1798-1837). Versi. Bologna: Stamperia delle Muse, 1826.
Scarce first edition of Leopardi's second collection of poems, published in early 1827 (dated 1826), containing 'L'infinito' for the first time in one volume. The publication was promoted by Brighenti, a publisher and printer with whom Leopardi had already collaborated on the Canzoni of 1824, and who had suggested to the poet a 'pamphlet' of unpublished poems. The collection begins with the Idylls, including L'infinito, La sera del giorno festivo and other texts previously published in periodicals, followed by two elegies, five satirical sonnets and the Epistola al Conte Carlo Pepoli. The volume concludes with the vulgarisation of the Batracomiomachia
