Scarce poem (only three copies in public libraries and only two passages at RBH auction) by Arcangelo Tuccaro, an Abruzzese acrobat in the service of the French royals and known as the 'saltarin du roi', known to be the author of the 'Trois dialogues de l'exercice de sauter et voltiger en air' published in Paris in 1599 the first and most important treatise on acrobatic gymnastics of the 16th century.
8vo, (143 x 98mm). Title page vignette, engraved initials and headpieces (minor restorations to title page and last leaf, some light waterstains and light foxing, gathering 'a' bound after the incipit instead of at the end). Contemporary vellum binding with gilt printed laurel wreath on boards, gilt title to spine (renewed looks, minor chipping). (1)
