First edition (with only one passage at auction, RBH) of the third book of Bernardo Tasso's Loves, combined with the second edition, missing the preface, of the first two books. The classicist-inspired work reflects the courtly world in which the father of the author of the Liberata lived and worked, and where Torquato himself was born, at the court of Ferrante Sanseverino, in 1544.

First work begins at the half-title (paper A7) containing the title of the collection (without the first 6 leaves A-A6 containing the dedication to the Prince of Salerno, small woodworm path at the lower central margin of some leaves affecting the letters). Second work: leaves A1v with dedication 'Alla signora Hippolita Pallavicina de Sanseverini,' leaves G4r with 'Favola di Leandro et d'Hero di Bernardo Tasso' .18th century carta rustica binding, handwritten title at edges (contemporary).
