OLIVIERO, Antonio Francesco (XVI century). La Alamanna. Venice: Vincenzo Valgrisi, 1567.
Copy owned by the bibliophile Elisabeth Sophia Maria of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Norburg (1683-1767) of the first edition of this sumptuous epic dedicated to the Schmalkaldic War, which recounts the success of Charles V in subduing the Protestant princes between 1546 and 1547. The woodcut on the title page shows the emperor's leading generals, including the Duke of Alba, the Duke of Castro, Philip II and Maximilian. The other engravings depict the battles of the campaign, as well as maps and views of the cities involved. Charles V at Olma and The Origin of Love by the same author are also included in the work and are linked to the poem at the end. Elisabeth of Schleswig-Holstein is particularly remembered for collecting a collection of more than 1,000 Bibles, which were later incorporated into the Augusta Library.
