First edition, never auctioned (RBH), of these celebratory opinions on Petrarch and Dante, where the poet is praised for his style, choice of vernacular language and for expressing with 'parole e concetti proprii et alti' the customs 'd'ogni sesso' and 'd'ogni condizione.' Girolamo Zoppio, a university professor and prolific author of literary commentaries, was also the founder of the 'Accademia dei Catenati.' Also included in the lot is the first edition of his polemic against Bellisario Bulgarini in defense of Dante.
