Study copy of this famous eighteenth century illustrated edition of Dante's poem

The 3 volumes of the Commedia: 1) volume with notice to the bookbinders on the verso of the half-title, copper-engraved frontispiece, portrait of Elisabetta Petrowna, engraved dedication sonnet, a plate with coins, portrait of Dante, Dante's tomb, plan of Hell, 34 plates at the opening of the cantos; 2) volume: 33 plates at the opening of the cantos; 3) volume: 33 plates at the opening of the cantos; A total of 100 engraved plates by Magnini, Rizzi, Crivellari da Fontebasso, Zompini, Schiavonio and Marcaggi, initials, headpieces and engraved vignettes in each volume (light spotting). Contemporary mottled calf leather bindings, marbled endpapers (severe damage to spines) [WITH:] Prose, e rime liriche edite ed inedite. The two parts of volume 4 with a frontispiece for each, plate with coins to the first volume and Dante's family tree to the second (the other 4 engraved plates are missing, light occasional foxing). Contemporary binding with leather spine, speckled edges (some wear). (4)
