Scarce fourth illustrated edition of the Commedia, with 100 woodcuts of popular taste from the Lombard area, one for each cantica.
Folio, (274 x 190mm). Woodcut vignettes at the beginning of each canto, engraved initials (trimmed, wormhole from gathering Q to the end of the work in the text, becoming path between d and h, lightly browned, some reddening and some spotting). 18th century half-leather binding, title to spine spine labels (woodworm holes and minor chipping). Provenance: contemporary illuminated decoration at the base of the beginning of canto I, unfortunately trimmed, with a heraldic shield and the initials 'S V'; heraldic ex libris at the endpapers by the bibliophile Iacopo Massimiliano Collalto (1729-1811).
